On Friday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to a question about a maskless ceremony in a way that doesn’t square with the Congress’s guidelines, nor the policies of several blue states.
“Yesterday we had a ceremony here, the bill signing, a large group of lawmakers came, we had the Medal of Honor ceremony yesterday,” a reporter began.
“Yes, we’re back,” Psaki responded.
“The meeting with the Kennedy Center Honors that we were told President and the First Lady had,” the reporter continued. “I’ve seen handshakes, hugging, kissing.”
“Is the White House open again?” the reporter asked. “Can you talk about some of the considerations that went into these events over the past couple of days, and is this the norm, the new norm going forward?”
“Yes,” she replied. “I can confirm we are a warm and fuzzy crew and we like to hug around here, but we were waiting for that to be allowed by CDC guidelines, which we certainly abide by.”
“So, we are, as many organizations and companies, are working to implement these guidelines here at the White House, and so what you’ve seen over the last couple of days is efforts to do exactly that,” she continued. “And that includes welcoming back and having a full briefing room very soon. It includes having more events with more people, and certainly continuing to open the White House up, the People’s House up to the American public.”
Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi is fining multiple Republicans and warning others about violating “mask guidelines” despite being vaccinated. As Fox News reported on Thursday:
Four GOP members of Congress were fined $500 for failing to wear a mask on the House floor in protest of the congressional mandate they argue needs to be updated in light of new coronavirus guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Seven other fellow Republican members of Congress were issued warnings: Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Chip Roy of Texas, Bob Good of Virginia, Mary Miller of Illinois and Louie Gohmert of Texas.

And in Chicago, the mayor appears to be sending mixed messages to the public about the CDC’s mask “guidance.”
“Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Monday she’s keeping her mask on in most public settings and she is encouraging others to do the same, despite new CDC guidelines that say fully vaccinated people no longer need masks in public,” ABC reported.

It’s time to stop for the Democrats to stop playing games with Republican lawmakers and with the American public. There is no way American citizens should follow any laws or policies that aren’t being followed by lawmakers themselves.
