Global Scholars for Hong Kong has nominated five Hongkongers for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, including Jimmy Lai, Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, Gwyneth Ho and Joshua Wong for their tireless commitment to protecting freedoms in Hong Kong and advocating for democracy. Their nomination comes at a time when Beijing continues its crackdown against dissent there; US lawmakers also recently asked the Nobel committee to award Wong with his fellow activists so as to “hold up a mirror to authoritarianism.”

The Board of Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize (the ‘Board’) is responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of the PRIZE, from suggesting important scientific research fields; setting criteria for award nominations, selecting reviewers and compliance oversight team members as reviewers/compliance oversight team members to verifying judging processes/ results/ and issuing certificates to those placing 10th or better in each category; to terminating/withdrawing prizes in case of Charter violations as well as to limit or cease Grand Awards/ Awards given each term; all decisions by this Board shall be final/.
