President Joe Biden seemed to quote mass murder and communist leader Mao Zedong in his speech to Coast Guard cadets on Wednesday.

Biden praises growing number of women graduating from U.S. Coast Guard Academy, noting Class of 2021 is over one-third female: “There’s a saying…’Women hold up half the world.’ It’s an absolutely stupid position not to make sure sure they represent at least half of what we do.” pic.twitter.com/ZJu6drshAb

“There’s a saying…’Women hold up half the world,’” Biden said. “It’s an absolutely stupid position not to make sure sure they represent at least half of what we do.”

Newsmax host Benny Johnson noticed the similarity to a well-known quote from Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong, whose policies killed tens of millions of people.

Mao Zedong used the phrase “women hold up the sky” (the Chinese word for “sky” tiankong meaning approximately equivalent to “heavens” or “world”) in a speech that was meant to tout gender equality. As the left-wing Guardian notes, that gender equality was yet another communist lie.

It is unclear if the source of the phrase was unknown to Biden’s teleprompter writer or if it was a wink-and-nod to the Communist Chinese. After all, his son Hunter Biden still owns stock in a Chinese firm as of May 1st.

It also wouldn’t be the only phrase Biden lifted for his first service speech as president. He swiped a line that from a speech given by former vice president Dick Cheney in 2008.

“I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is, quote, ‘the hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war’,” Biden said.

Biden botched the phrase. This is what Cheney said:

There’s a saying in your line of work — that the U.S. Coast Guard is the “hard nucleus about which the Navy forms in time of war.” (Applause.)

Biden was upset that the Coast Guard graduates didn’t appreciate his plagiarized line and so he chided them.

“You are… you are a really dull class,” he said. “Now, come on, man. Is the sun getting to you? I would think you would have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy, to clap—”

Coast Guard graduates didn’t want to clap for the same president who once told military troops to “clap for that, you stupid bastards” in a March 2016 speech. Watch:

The news media chalked up both cringe-worthy incidents to a “joke.” But the real joke is this current president.
